This week, Visão published the first official interview with Miguel Pauseiro as President of APEL. In the conversation with Visão, which can be read in full [here], he discussed his first three months in the role and the future of the national book market, which grew by 9% in 2024.

“APEL is heard, and its opinion is taken into account. We will continue working with everyone to elevate the book sector in Portugal, not only for economic reasons but also for the direct and wide-ranging benefits it brings to our country.” Miguel Pauseiro also stated that “investment in tax incentives for the opening of new bookstores, as well as creative grants for artists, is essential. We must defend the Portuguese language (…) and continue to challenge our members to innovate.”
