Bárbara began her journey at PÚBLICO in 1997 with an academic internship, during which she covered Expo98. Over time, her focus on Education led her to become something of a “specialist” in the field. In 2005, she was awarded the first A Família na Comunicação Social prize. Three years later, she published her first book, A Escola Ideal: como escolher a escola do seu filho dos 0 aos 18 anos (Sebenta). In 2011, she released A minha sala de aula é uma trincheira (Esfera dos Livros), which explores — or challenges — the common assumptions about teachers.

In 2012, she began co-authoring the Olimpvs.net series (Alfaguara), aimed at students aged 9 to 14. A year later, she published O meu filho fez o quê??? (Porto Editora). Since 2011, she has embraced the challenge of editing — first the P2 section, then the Portugal section, and now Online.
