Ben Keene is the cofounder of Rebel Book Club, a global nonfiction reading community launched in 2015. The club started in Bali when he and a friend recognised their shared problem of “tsundoku” — buying books without actually reading them — and decided to commit to reading one nonfiction book each month and discussing it. Since then, Ben has boosted his own reading from roughly 4 books a year to about 3550, thanks to the club’s structure and peer accountability.

Under his leadership, Rebel Book Club offers monthly book selections, discussion meetups, and themed cocktails, all aimed at turning reading into actionable insight. In May 2025, the club celebrated its 10th anniversary, having read over 120 books with thousands of readers across some 10 cities around the world
