Maria Inês Almeida was born in Lisbon and is a trained journalist (Portuguese Catholic University). She worked as a journalist for several years, received the Revelation Award from the Journalists’ Club but decided to enter the world of children’s books in 2009. She has published more than 75 books (several are included in the National Reading Plan) and some titles in other countries. The collection “Diary of a Girl Like You”, “Homeless”, “When I’m… Grande”, “Malala’s Brave Adventure”, “Mandela’s Brave Adventure” The Little Book of Empathy”, “The Guardian Angel”, among others, are some of her books.

She is the mother of José and Maria Francisca and believes that books can change the world.

She co-authored the series “Panda and the Super Vets”, which is shown on Canal Panda.

The author of the well-known collection “Diary of a Girl Like You” also often gives Diary Writing Workshops for young people.
