Pedro Mexia was born in Lisbon in 1972 and graduated in Law from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He was a critic and columnist for the newspapers Diário de Notícias and Público and currently writes for Expresso. He took part in the commentary program “Governo Sombra” (Shadow Government) and has a weekly program on Radar radio and a cinema program on Antena 3 radio station. He was deputy director and acting director of the Cinemateca Portuguesa. He has published six books of poetry, anthologized in “Menos por Menos”, followed by “Uma Vez Que Tudo se Perdeu”. He coordinates the poetry collection at Edições Tinta da China. He has published seven collections of chronicles: the most recent are “Biblioteca” and “Queria mais é que chovesse”. He has also published four volumes of diaries. He organized a book of essays by Agustina Bessa-Luís and, with José Tolentino Mendonça, an anthology on the question of God in Portuguese poetry. He has translated Robert Bresson, Tom Stoppard, Martin Crimp and Hugo Williams. He has written and directed plays and was recently a member of the Camões Prize jury.
