António Feijó

President of Gulbenkian Foundation (Portugal)

With a PhD in English and American Literature from Brown University and an MA in English and American Literature from the State University of New York, Albany, António Feijó served as the Director of the Faculty of Letters at the University of Lisbon, Vice-Rector, Pro-Rector, Director of Press and of the University of Lisbon Journal.  

He is a Full Professor in the Department of English Studies and of the Program of Literary Theory at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. António Feijó is the author of books and essays on topics related to English, American, and Portuguese literature, as well as translations and stage adaptations of works such as Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Hamlet, and King Lear, and works by Oscar Wilde and Fernando Pessoa, among others.  

He has curated literature exhibitions at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation. He was the President of the Independent General Council of RTP (Rádio e Televisão de Portugal), a Non-Executive Director of the Casa de Mateus Foundation, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, since May 2022.
