Tânia Ganho was born in 1973 and for the past twenty years has devoted herself to writing and translating fiction. She has translated authors such as Annie Ernaux, Toni Morrison, Leïla Slimani, Elizabeth Strout, Hervé Le Tellier, Yukio Mishima, Alice Walker, Maya Angelou, Siri Hustvedt, Chimamanda Adichie, David Lodge and Amor Towles, among many others. She is the author of five novels: A Vida Sem Ti (2005), Cuba Libre (2007), A Lucidez do Amor (2010), A Mulher-Casa (2012), which has been acclaimed by the press as an example of the new feminist writing in Portugal, and Apneia (2020), semifinalist of Prémio Oceanos and finalist of Prémio Bertrand Melhor Livro de Ficção Lusófona (Bertrand Prize for Best Portuguese Novel). Apneia is soon to be adapted to the screen. In 2021, Tânia Ganho received a literary grant from the Ministry of Culture and is currently working on a new novel. She ran a book club for two years at the Caxias Prison and is now hosting a book club at Biblioteca Fernando Piteira Santos in Amadora. She does volunteer work at CRIL, a wolf sanctuary in Mafra.
