Afonso Reis Cabral was born in 1990. At the age of fifteen, he published the poetry book Condensação. He has a degree in Portuguese and Lusophone Studies, a master’s degree in the same field and a postgraduate degree in Fiction Writing. He has gone to Germany twice in search of a story, the first time at the age of thirteen and has worked in a cowshed, a tourist office and a bookshop.

In 2014, he won the LeYa Prize for his novel O Meu Irmão (My Brother), which is currently being translated in Spain and Italy and has already been published in Brazil. He has contributed dozens of texts to a wide variety of publications. In 2017, he was awarded the David Mourão-Ferreira Europe Prize in the Promise category. He currently works as a freelance editor.
