Joana Raio is an international actress currently living in Lisbon. She trained at the East 15 Acting School in London, where she lived for 12 years, graduating with a BA in Community Theatre. Joana has developed skills as a facilitator in a social intervention context, highlighting 5 Strangers, the final product of the Speak to Me project, a series of 12-week creative workshops involving a community of British Red Cross refugees and asylum seekers at Dalston’s Day Centre.

Joana works as an interpreter, creator, folder and teacher. In 2023, she won the Off Section of the Setúbal International Theatre Festival with Voltei, which she created, produced and performed in. Break Up, her latest creation, is scheduled to premiere at the Setúbal Festival in August 2024.
