Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has a degree in Law and a Doctorate in Legal and Political Science. He was a professor at the Faculdade de Direito – University of Lisbon, also teaching throughout his career in various other universities, in Portugal as well as abroad. He was a journalist, responsible for the Expresso newspaper, worked on the Seminário newspaper and was a well-known political commentator on TSF radio, and RTP and TVI TV Stations. He has supported the PSD political party since its founding, serving as its president (1996 to 1999) and holding various positions in national and local government. He was elected President of the Republic of Portugal in 2016.
