Rui Couceiro was born in Porto in 1984. He has worked in publishing since 2006, first as communications advisor and cultural coordinator for Porto Editora, and, since 2016, as an editor at Bertrand, where he is in charge of the Contraponto. He is a member of the Cultural Council of the Eça de Queiroz Foundation. He writes for Visão. He studied Social Communication and Communication Sciences, and abandoned a doctoral thesis in Cultural Studies to write her first novel, Baiôa sem Data para Morrer (2022), published in Portugal by Porto Editora, in Brazil by Biblioteca Azul and about to be published in Spain by Siruela. The book was awarded the Manuel de Boaventura Literary Prize 2022 and a finalist for the Pen Club Português Prize 2023. In June 2024, he published his second novel, Morro da Pena Ventosa, also by Porto Editora.
