Rui Couceiro was born in Porto in 1984. He has worked in publishing since 2006 and since 2016 has been an editor at Bertrand, in charge of the Contraponto imprint. He is a member of the Cultural Council of the Eça de Queiroz Foundation. He writes for Visão. He abandoned a doctoral thesis in Cultural Studies to write his first novel, Baiôa sem Data para Morrer (2022), published in Portugal by Porto Editora, in Brazil by Biblioteca Azul and about to be released in Spain by Siruela. The book was awarded the Manuel de Boaventura Literary Prize 2022 and was a finalist for the Pen Club Português Prize 2023.
