Following her participation in the 4th edition of BOOK 2.0 – The Future of Reading, Clara Capitão, Managing Director of Penguin Random House Portugal, spoke to Líder magazine about the challenges facing reading in a context shaped by digital saturation, algorithms and the growing competition for our attention.

In the interview, conducted behind the scenes at BOOK 2.0, Clara Capitão reflects on the role of publishers and curation, the impact of social media on book discovery and sharing, and the need to make reading accessible to different audiences and generations. “Reading cannot, under any circumstances, be a habit reserved for the elite,” she argues.

Clara Capitão was part of the BOOK 2.0 2026 programme, where she moderated the conversation with Markus Dohle, former Global CEO of Penguin Random House.
