Andrés Allamand is a Chilean lawyer and politician, born in Santiago in 1956. A founding figure of the National Renewal party, he has had a long career in public life, serving as deputy, senator and Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile. Since February 2022, he has been Secretary-General of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), the organization that promotes cooperation among the 22 Ibero-American countries, and was reelected for a new term in 2025. He is the author of more than 10 books and publications on democracy, development and international cooperation.
