Joan Tarrida has spent his entire professional career in the publishing industry. He was Director of Publications for the Barcelona Olympic Games (1990–1992) and in 1992 joined the German group Bertelsmann, one of the biggest media companies in the world, where he worked for 18 years taking different top managing roles in Spain, Portugal and Latinamerica. In January 2011, he acquired the Galaxia Gutenberg imprint, of which he is currently Managing Director, Publisher and principal shareholder. Galaxia Gutenberg publishes more than 70 new titles a year and has become one of the most prestigious and highly regarded literary publishers in the Spanish-speaking world. As a publisher, he has received the Spanish Ministry of Culture’s award for Best Publishing Work and the Todostuslibros Award for Publisher of the Year, presented by the Spanish Booksellers’ Association.
